A major event will be organized in Leeuwarden on May 11 during the final of the Eurovision Song Contest. The event in the hometown of Eurovision Song Contest participant Joost Klein will consist of various performances.

The event is a joint initiative of the municipality of Leeuwarden, the province of Friesland, pop venue Neushoorn, Omrop Fryslân and presenter Sipke Jan Bousema.

The organizers want to shout Klein to victory with “thousands”. The initiators have submitted a request to AVROTROS to do the scoring on behalf of the Netherlands from Leeuwarden.

“They were positive, but they now have to see if it is possible,” says Bousema. “I understand that they are currently busy with the launch of the song that will be released on Thursday, but I hope to get clarity soon.”

The 26-year-old Klein was born in Leeuwarden and grew up in the village of Britsum. The singer will represent the Netherlands at the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest. He still has to get through the semi-finals on May 9. In any case, the organizers have announced that the event in Leeuwarden will continue even if Klein does not reach the final.
