LEGISLATIVE ELECTIONS – Rossy notes abuses by candidates in Tana IV

As the election campaign period approaches, the pre-campaign is in full swing. To this end, MP Rossy denounces unhealthy maneuvers by two of his opponents in the Tana IV district.

Pressure on Fokontany chiefs. The deputy for Tana IV and candidate for his own succession, Paul Bert Rahasimanana, reveals abuses perpetrated by two candidate deputies in the district of Tana IV. According to him, these two candidates are putting pressure on the Fokontany chiefs of the constituency. Rossy published the information on his Facebook page and declared having had an interview with the prefect of the capital. In his publication, he explains that he shared with the prefect the complaints of fokontany leaders who are threatened with being replaced if they do not decide to support the candidates in question. According to positive law, civil servants do not have the right to display political color during the electoral process, unless they are themselves candidates.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI), represented by Soava Andriamarotafika, general rapporteur, emphasizes that it is essential for the applicant to provide proof of his allegations. However, if the facts are proven, it is up to the High Constitutional Court (HCC) to take appropriate measures with regard to the candidates involved. The Ambohidahy institution is the sole decision-making authority in matters of electoral offenses.
