BONJOUR

Hello and welcome to this live broadcast dedicated to Ukraine. Find the latest information on the conflict against Russia here.

Vladimir Putin warned, Thursday February 29, the West against a “real threat” of nuclear war in the event of an escalation of the conflict in Ukraine, in his speech to the Nation, an annual high mass on the occasion of which he defined Russia’s priorities. This new exit on nuclear power was described by Washington as “irresponsible rhetoric”. France, for its part, summoned the master of the Kremlin to “don’t play climbing”.

Emmanuel Macron affirmed that each of his words on Ukraine was “weighed” et “measure” after his comments on the potential sending of ground troops into the country, which earned him a dismissal from his main allies and a scathing response from Vladimir Putin.

French diplomacy also estimated that Russia is “very likely” behind the “attempts at destabilization” in Moldova, where pro-Russian separatists in the Transnistria region requested help from Moscow.

On the ground, the Ukrainian air force claimed to have shot down three Russian fighter-bombers on Thursday, bringing to 13 the number of Russian military planes that kyiv claims to have destroyed in two weeks.

The Russian army indicated that it had repelled the landing of a special forces commando from kyiv in occupied southern Ukraine, claiming to have killed “up to 25 soldiers” and captured another, information partially confirmed by Ukraine.
