But what makes this new establishment so special, and how does it fit into the fabric of this beloved colorado town?
From State Capitol to Community Hub: The Story Behind Lyons Locale
The story of Lyons Locale begins with Lisa Kaufmann Wicker, a former chief of staff to Colorado Governor Jared Polis. After years in state politics, Wicker and her family sought a change of pace, finding themselves drawn to Lyons following the devastating floods of 2013.
During a visit with Governor Polis in the aftermath of the floods, Wicker recognized the town’s resilience and the importance of preserving its unique character.Years later, after leaving her position at the Capitol, she and her husband,Ryan Wicker, turned their attention to a property at 442 High St. – a location affectionately known as “Lyons’ front porch.”
This property held a special significance, serving as a central meeting point for residents during the 2013 floods.Concerned about its potential loss as a community asset, the Wickers embarked on a mission to revitalize the space.
A Collaborative Vision: Moxie bread Co. & Lyons Locale
The transformation of 442 High st. began in April 2023 with the relocation of Moxie Bread Co. to one of the property’s units. this popular bakery continues to serve breakfast and lunch, creating a seamless culinary experience throughout the day.
Following the departure of the previous tenant,Spanish restaurant Farra, this summer, the Wickers partnered with local mixologist Amanda Engelhorn to launch Lyons Locale in the remaining unit. Together, they envisioned a space that would complement Moxie Bread Co. and cater to a different crowd – one seeking cheese, wine, and a relaxed atmosphere.
