“They’re both wonderful peopel,” he confessed. “I don’t see enough of them, as they live in Europe a lot of the time, but when I do, it’s always great to just hang.”
Despite his lack of interest in Emily in Paris, McDowell remains a devoted fan of his daughter-in-law’s talent. “To be honest with you, it’s not my kind of thing, and Lily knows that,” he told People magazine. “But I’m the biggest fan of my daughter-in-law. I think she’s absolutely one of the great actresses.”

McDowell marvels at the unique personalities of each grandchild. “They’re so different in personality and everything. It’s just beatiful to watch.”

Though, he cherishes the spontaneous encounters. “Of course, being a grandfather, you’re kind of watching it from afar,” he said. “They come over and swim or something and I see them occasionally, but we live in the same town, so it’s really nice to bump into them on the street and it’s great.”
