The suspect, a 54-year-old man with Chinese authority, was arrested in Singapore. According to police, he made the mistake on board a flight from Hong Kong to Singapore earlier this week.
From luggage compartment
The suspect stole cash from the bag of a fellow passenger from the luggage compartment of the plane. “This passenger was unaware that someone was rummaging through his bag,” police said in a statement to media in Singapore.
Only after the plane arrived in Singapore did the victim discover that tens of thousands in cash had disappeared from his bag. The passenger went to the police, who opened an investigation.
Money exchange offices
The police tracked down the suspect using passenger lists. He had already been to four different money exchange offices and had an amount of approximately 34,000 euros exchanged. He had money in different currencies in his pocket.
