Márcio Daniel on a working visit to tourist areas in Namibe –

The Minister of Tourism is on a working visit to the province of Namibe during a six-day journey, to check the state and functioning of the tourist areas in that region.

Márcio Daniel will visit the municipalities of Camucuio, Bibala, Tômbwa and Moçâmedes, with emphasis on the Tchipopilo complex, the center of Montipa, the Santa Lagoa do Arco cave, the Pediva area and the Iona National Park. The government official is accompanied by operators from the tourism sector.

Meanwhile, hotel businesspeople in the province of Cuando Cubango defend greater investment in communication routes by the government, in the Angolan region that forms part of the cross-border tourist project called Okavango/Zambeze.

Longui António Bongui and Alda Maria, respectively, own some hotel units in Menongue. They state that the regions of Bico de Angola, and other locations along the border, struggle with a lack of infrastructure that limits the expansion of their services, a fact that, according to them, has scared off tourists.

The general director of the management office of the Okavango Basin Tourist Development Pole, João Baptista Gime, confirms the difficulties and clarifies that there are already some actions underway on the ground.
