Next Thursday it will be exactly seventy years ago that former Luv’ singer Marga Scheide saw the light of day. She told De Telegraaf on Monday that she would not celebrate that milestone until three days later, on Sunday, February 18.

That just happens to be the day that the premiere of Patty, the Videoland series by and about her former colleague Patty Brard, takes place in the Amsterdam RAI. And so for that reason, at least as she says herself, Marga has to skip Patty’s party.
In the run-up to her crowning year, Marga has already completed many flying hours. To cope with the grief of her life partner Michiel Gunning, who died in June last year, the singer took a plane in December – and then boarded a cruise ship with her sister Hannie in the Mediterranean. Michiel would have turned seventy on Christmas Day, so Marga was not alone during that painful period.

The former singer is not at Patty’s party, but is organizing a party herself.
Big miss
“I then took another cruise last month: a tour through Central America. I visited Honduras, Costa Rica and Guatemala, among others. No, it is not a flight, but the loss is so great and I don’t feel like sitting at home for a long time in the Gooi, the place where we were so happy. That’s why it was quite a thing for me to go to our second home in Ibiza for the first time. We also had a great time there.”
Marga therefore regularly flew in family and friends to accompany her on the Spanish party island. “Now that I have been to Spain a few times, I can cope a bit again. In a fortnight I will leave again for a few weeks in the Spanish sun.”
Perhaps a good time to watch the video series about Patty (and Luv’) on the plane there, in peace and quiet?
