On March 1st, Zero Discrimination Day will take place for the tenth time. On this occasion, Aids Hilfe Wien invites you to an expert discussion.

VIENNA/MARIAHILF. In 2014, Zero Discrimination Day was launched by UNAIDS, the United Nations program against HIV/AIDS. Since then, March 1st has been used to show solidarity with those who are discriminated against because of their race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender, disability or other characteristics. Aids Hilfe Vienna has also been celebrating the day at the Mariahilfer Belt for ten years.

As part of the anniversary, she is hosting a discussion event on the stigmatization of people with HIV. There will also be the photo exhibition “Going viral” by photographer Christopher Klettermayers on display. The organization then invites you to a party with a DJ set.

Clearly against prejudices

The event starts at 5 p.m. and is accessible free of charge. You can register until February 28th at [email protected]. Mariahilf’s district leader Markus Rumelhart (SPÖ) will also take part and hand over the donations for the youth project “Sexual health prevention for queer young people”.

“With regard to Zero Discrimination Day on March 1st, we want to take a clear stand against prejudice and ignorance. Experiences of discrimination cause significantly greater problems for HIV-positive people than possible health restrictions due to the infection,” explains Andrea Brunner, managing director of Aids Hilfe. “We are fighting to make discrimination visible and to reduce prejudices.”
