Marianne Vos (Visma-Lease a Bike) has made the victory gesture for the second time in the Tour of Spain. After another fan day, the Dutch was clearly the fastest of a decimated peloton. On a Spanish Cauberg she timed her sprint perfectly and tolerated no resistance. Demi Vollering (SD Worx-Protime) heads into the final day as leader.

Should we set our fan alarm today?

After two mountain stages, the peloton was presented with a relatively flat stage, but it could turn out to be surprising due to the wind and a treacherous finale.

After the starting signal, the team demarcated to set up an early flight.

However, Team Visma-Lease a Bike and Movistar kept the pace high in the peloton, no breakaway could carry it further than a minute and a half.

At kilometer marker 40 the time had come: the road turned and the wind had free rein.

The peloton crumbled into fans, all the important classification women rode alertly at the front. The second fan quickly got her pants patched up for a minute, the winner was in this group.

Movistar and Team Visma-Lease a Bike continued to lead the dance, at SD-Worx Protime there was a top meeting between red jersey Demi Vollering, Blanka Vas and Marlen Reusser.

Was there a plan hatched towards the final decisive wall?

Koninklijke Vos finishes it off with ease

5 kilometers from the finish, one late retirement after another suddenly followed. Reusser, Spratt and Chapman, among others, shook the tree, they were ultimately blanks.

The last 500 meters went uphill with gradients of up to 9%, completely tailored to the explosive women with a strong final sprint. Hello, Marianne Vos?

It was the American Faulkner who lit the fuse and was the first to climb the wall. Elisa Longo Borghini and top favorite Vos got stuck into her wheel.

With 200 meters to go, the green Fox then released her devils. She calmly knocked her two competitors out of the wheel and crossed the finish line royally.

The Dutch woman thus wins her second stage in this Vuelta Femenina. It is her fourth victory ever in the Tour of Spain, and that is a record.

Class has no age, as this 36-year-old strong lady proves.

Red jersey Vollering lifted herself to a nice fourth place, just 2 seconds behind Vos, she is the woman to beat for the overall win tomorrow.

Marianne Vos: “This stage was really a goal for us today. Luckily Riejanne (Markus) and I were in the first fan. From those fans it was difficult to keep control, but we still had a good position going into the last kilometer. I’m very happy that I can finish it again.”

Fox takes it!

Marianne Vos royally knocks Kristen Faulkner and Elisa Longo Borghini out of the wheel uphill! She starts her engine 150 meters from the finish and wins the stage by force majeure. She still has time to look over her shoulder, it went so smoothly for the Dutch woman.

She takes her second stage victory in this Vuelta. A very nice lady.

Longo Borghini and Vos are alert at the front, Vas falls through.

Who has the most gunpowder in her legs on the last wall?

Reusser cleans up and immediately tries to go up and over the group, but the party is canceled.

Foursome has a 5″ lead

There is no response to a lunge from Bredewold, who takes Jackson, Smulders and Williams in her wake.

Behind them they look at each other, Brown takes the lead.

One attack after another now: Amanda Spratt chooses the right moment and goes out alone. She looks back and hangs her head, solo it will be difficult.

Reusser with a jab

Marlen Reusser accelerates, Alison Jackson jumps alertly on her wheel. It certainly won’t stop until we start on the last wall!

Anya Louw receives the prize for fighting spirit

The AG Insurance-Soudal rider treats herself to a final day in white tomorrow.

Mavi Garcia is also still at the front, it has not yet been her Vuelta Femenina. If the Spanish champion wants to have a chance today, she will have to do something. The sprint up is basically too hard for her.

Is everyone now driving well towards the finish line, or is someone still trying something with a late exit? It promises to be exciting towards Sigüenza.

Another 15 kilometers

At the start everyone feared a boring stage, but the wind decided otherwise. We already saw a very attacking and fun race.

Within half an hour the ultimate explosion will follow, because there is still a wall waiting for the last 500 meters.

Movistar continues to shake the tree

The peloton is thinned out again and again by Movistar’s blue brigade. They don’t let up the pace for a moment, so we will drive towards the finish with a small group.

Sarah Gigante just drives onto the side of the road, but is able to quickly jump on her bike again. Is it the fatigue that is starting to play tricks on you?
