In the latest episode of ‘Buy without Looking’, real estate agent Alex van Keulen can work with a nice budget to find a house for Boy and Martijn. The search is not easy and the couple becomes very impatient, which is why they seem to briefly consider quitting the program…
“It’s all taking too long”
Martijn and Boy live in Utrecht, but dream of a house in Deventer. The search for their dream home is not going smoothly. Help from the program is therefore more than welcome. With a budget of 440,000 euros, it is up to real estate agent Alex to find the ideal house for Martijn and Boy.
The wish list is clear: a single-family home with a garden and at least two bedrooms, an open kitchen, a bathroom with two sinks, a workplace for Boy and a driveway for two cars. The latter causes Bob Sikkes to be surprised: “Now it’s getting really crazy.”
The concession clock is set to 56 days and Alex is full of confidence. About the search, he says: “One that I am sure we will succeed in, but that brings with it another challenge: if you have a choice, you want to make the best choice.”
Even before zero is in sight on the dreaded concession clock, the men become tense. They wait impatiently for Alex’s arrival. What the couple doesn’t know is that the real estate agent has already purchased a house before the clock expired and that no bad news conversation is imminent.
It is up to presenter Martijn Krabbé to deliver this good news. Although he doesn’t have to count on a cheerful Martijn. “He is extremely cranky. It’s all taking too long for him. (…) Actually, he doesn’t need it anymore,” says a colleague. The presenter knows what awaits him: putting his namesake out of his misery.
“You’ve been grumpy all week,” Martijn confronts him. Fortunately, he manages to put a smile on his face: “We bought a house.” Then they visit Boy, who was also considering throwing in the towel. “I was a bit fed up with it,” he reveals. The search took a long time, causing his patience to run out.
It’s a good thing they waited, because the couple is very happy when they see the house. Bob and Roos then work with their teams to turn the house into a home. The men no longer recognize the house. “It’s really incredible. It’s so beautiful,” says Martijn enthusiastically. In the end, it was worth the ten months of waiting.
