Microsoft Realigns for the Age of AI: A New Structure for Accelerated Growth
We are entering a new era – a generational platform shift driven by artificial intelligence. To fully capitalize on this opportunity and solidify Microsoft’s position as the partner for AI change, we’re making significant organizational changes. these changes are about more than evolution; thay represent a basic reinvention for both our company and each of us professionally.
Why This Change?
Our goal is simple: to accelerate growth and deliver even greater value to our customers. This requires tighter alignment between the teams that understand customer needs, build the technology, and bring it to market. Currently, fragmented processes can slow down innovation and hinder our ability to respond quickly to evolving market demands.
A Unified Commercial Organization
To address this, we’re creating a more unified commercial organization. Judson Althoff will lead this effort as CEO of our commercial business, expanding his role from his accomplished tenure leading global sales.
Here’s how the pieces will come together:
* Sales: Judson will continue to oversee the global sales organization, building on the momentum of Microsoft Customer and Partner Solutions (MCAPS).
* marketing: Takeshi Numoto and his entire marketing team will now report to Judson as CMO. Takeshi will maintain a reporting line to me for overall business models, planning, consumer marketing, and corporate brand.
* operations: The operations organization will also join the commercial business,streamlining the connection between customer requirements and our delivery and support capabilities. Carolina dybeck Happe will continue reporting to me, focusing on overall company transformation and partnering closely with Judson.
* Commercial Leadership Team: Judson will spearhead a new leadership team encompassing engineering, sales, marketing, operations, and finance. This team will drive product strategy, go-to-market readiness, and sales execution with shared accountability.
empowering Engineering & Innovation
This realignment isn’t about shifting focus away from engineering. Quite the opposite. It’s designed to free up our engineering leaders - and myself – to concentrate on our most aspiring technical work.
We will be laser-focused on:
* Datacenter buildout
* Systems architecture
* AI science
* Product innovation
This intense focus will allow us to lead with speed and agility in this rapidly changing landscape. You, as members of our technical teams, will need to embrace continuous learning, adopt new work methods, and stay deeply connected to the core technology to drive innovation across the entire stack.
What This Means for you
This isn’t just a structural change; it’s a call to action. We all need to be at our best, rapidly acquiring new skills and embracing new ways of working. Your dedication and adaptability are crucial to our success.
Ultimately,this reinvention is about positioning Microsoft to lead the AI revolution and deliver unparalleled value to our customers. We are confident that this new structure will empower us to do just that.
