We still have to wait almost six months for the release of the iPhone 16 series, but in the meantime information has leaked about the size of the batteries of those devices. And that turns out to be bad news for the iPhone 16 Plus.
In the news: The rumor about the battery capacity of the iPhone 16 models comes from the Chinese social medium Weibo, via the website Phone Arena, and are confirmed by multiple users. There someone shared the planned size of the batteries of the iPhone 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max.
The details:
- For the third year in a row, Apple seems to be sticking to the same four models with the iPhone 16. There will be an iPhone 16 and the larger variant 16 Plus. There is also a high-end model iPhone 16 Pro and the top device 16 Pro Max.
- Remarkably, the battery capacity of the iPhone 16 Plus would decrease compared to the 15 Plus. While last year this was 4,383 mAh, the successor, expected in September, could only count on a 4,006 mAh battery.
- There is better news for the three other models. For example, according to the leaked information, the battery capacity of the iPhone 16 increases from 3,349 mAh last year to 3,561 mAh. The iPhone 16 Pro goes from 3,274 mAh to 3,355 mAh and the 16 Pro Max comes from 4,441 mAh and could now count on 4,676 mAh.
But: A larger battery capacity does not necessarily mean that an iPhone battery will last longer. A lot of that also depends on the efficiency of the software, the rest of the hardware and the efficiency of the battery.
- Because it will take almost six months before Apple officially presents the new iPhone 16 series, all rumors can of course still be taken with a grain of salt.
