An astronomical quantity of speed tablets were discovered in the commercial premises transformed into a clandestine laboratory which received a visit from the police last week, in the borough of Saint-Laurent, in Montreal.

Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) officers seized more than 2 million methamphetamine tablets during the dismantling of the facilities.

“Significant quantities of chemicals used in the manufacture of illicit tablets, two tablet presses as well as sophisticated equipment allowing large-scale production were also seized,” the RCMP said in a press release.

From the outside, one would never have thought that this small red brick commercial premises could house a clandestine laboratory for the production of synthetic drugs.

The small building, located in a residential area of the borough of Saint-Laurent, in Montreal, had on its front a typical commercial sign on which one could read the name of the company: Les Entreprises d’Electricite Lambert Inc.

Inside, however, the premises had not at all been set up as an electricity business, but rather as a place for large-scale production of synthetic drugs, very popular with young people.

It took several days for RCMP officers to safely seize all the production equipment, chemicals and drugs found there.

The investigation into this matter began last December and evolved quickly. Five individuals were arrested on the sidelines of Friday’s dismantling. They were released pending further proceedings, but could face several criminal charges in the near future.
