Mortal Kombat II Release Date Shifts to 2026
Fans anticipating the next installment in the Mortal Kombat film franchise will have to exercise a little more patience. The highly anticipated Mortal Kombat II is now slated for release in May 2026, moving from it’s original fall 2025 window.
This adjustment isn’t due to any concerns about the film’s quality,however. Early test screenings have reportedly been very positive.Rather, the studio is strategically positioning the sequel to capitalize on the lucrative early summer box office potential demonstrated by the recent success of Final Destination: Bloodlines.
What You Need to Know About the Delay
The film was initially scheduled to premiere on October 24th, 2025.
It will now arrive in theaters on May 15th, 2026.
This shift aims to replicate the strong opening weekend achieved by Final Destination: Bloodlines in mid-may, which grossed $51.6 million.

You can expect to see familiar faces alongside exciting new additions. Karl Urban joins the cast as johnny cage, a role fans have eagerly awaited.
