After more than two months, Taylor Swift’s music is back on TikTok.
In early February, music label Universal Music Group (UMG) copied the music of Swift and other artists from TikTok failed negotiations about a licensing agreement. According to Universal, the company behind TikTok, ByteDance, did not want to pay a fair price for the music rights.
According to the Financial Times the return of music was already coming. A new album by the American singer will be released next Friday, entitled The Tortured Poets Department.
According to the British newspaper, Swift can decide for herself where her songs can be heard, because unlike many other artists, she owns the copyrights of her songs.
In addition to Taylor Swift, well-known artists such as Billie Eilish and Harry Styles also fall under UMG. Their music was also removed from TikTok in February. It is not known if and when they will return to the platform.
