Now, a neighbor has told police they should check 84-year-old Nancy’s roof after she watched aerial footage of the home on TV.
‘You see in that image, you see how white her roof is,’ Laura Gargano told CNN. ‘The previous three weeks we had a lot of rain, so it would be normal for a roof to a be little dirty after it rains.’
The neighbor told police to check if the elderly woman recently had her roof recoated as it could potentially lead to suspects.
Gargano said her garage roof is flat and it easily gets dirty. So when she saw how white Nancy’s roof was, it drew suspicion due to the previous weather events that had run the area recently.
‘That’s just one thing to check,’ she said.
Police believe Nancy is alive. Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos told reporters on Friday night: ‘What I believe is that Nancy was removed from her home against her will, and that we need to find her. That’s what I believe. She’s still alive.
‘I believe that I have no choice until something shows me, a piece of physical evidence shows me that that’s different.’
A neighbor told police they should check Nancy Guthrie’s roof after she saw aerial footage on TV of the home.

What we know so far?
Nancy was reported missing on Sunday after she didn’t show up to church.
Just the night before, she was last seen by her family at game night before returning home around 10pm.
In the early morning hours of February 1, her doorbell camera was disconnected, and 30 minutes later, software detected movement in her home, but no video is available.
Around 2.30am, her pacemaker was disconnected from her phone.
Around 11am, a friend called the family to say Nancy hadn’t shown up to church, and shortly after, the family contacted police.
Authorities police Nancy was abducted from her home against her will.
Since the investigation started, the Guthrie family has put out a video to beg abductors to return Nancy home safely. Investigators have also searched her home, seized a blue SUV, and more.
Multiple ransom notes have also been sent to local news stations, but abductors have not given the family any signs of life.
Fears grow that Nancy Guthrie could be in Mexico
Nancy Guthrie’s home in Catalina Foothills in Arizona is only a mere 70 miles from the US-Mexico border.
Some fear her kidnappers may be holding her hostage in the North American country.
Former Phoenix Troy Hillman said it will be hard to pinpoint exactly where Nancy is.
‘It’s hard to say,’ he told Fox. ‘She could possibly be in Mexico or she could possible be in a neighboring state… But you just don’t know.’
Private investigator details what kidnappers would have to prove to Guthrie family that Nancy is alive
Logan Clarke, a California-based investigator and founder of Global Pursuit, said whoever has Nancy would need to do more than simply send a photo of her holding today’s newspaper.
The mere possibility of AI manipulation of an image like that would render it completely useless.
Clarke said if the alleged abductors sent a video of Nancy, 84, answering questions only she would know, that could be proof enough.
What to know about the ransom notes
Local media outlets received alleged ransom notes related to Guthrie that the Pima County Sheriff’s Department and the FBI are investigating.
The notes, which have not been confirmed as legitimate, demanded Guthrie’s family pay her captors in Bitcoin, which is essentially untraceable.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department said that the IP address from the second emailed note did not match the first one sent to the station earlier this week.
However, Coleman said ‘it appears the sender used the same type of secure server’ to hide their information.
FBI agents return to Guthrie’s home
Infrared footage caught investigators searching the home Friday night.
Agents were seen walking around and removing items.
Pima County Sheriff isn’t going to update the public without new evidence
Despite being criticized for his handling of the Nancy Guthrie case, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said he does not plan on hosting any more press conferences ‘unless we have some real evidence or something to bring up to you,’ he said.
‘It’s pretty pointless to just keep hounding the same things over and over, Nanos said on Thursday.
The Sheriff’s Department is working alongside the FBI to hopefully help find the 84-year-old, who went missing on Sunday.
Nanos was previously criticized for shutting down the crime scene too early and for not deploying a Cessna aircraft after the grandmother was reported missing.
