The Ministry of Infrastructure has started work on the possibility of implementing the National Integrated Ticket, a system combining various types of public transport. The new solution is intended to facilitate travel by train, trams and city buses.

“The Ministry of Infrastructure is examining the possibility of introducing it Nationwide Integrated Ticket, connecting various types of public transport. The mentioned project is an advanced and comprehensive concept that responds to the growing challenges related to urban and regional mobility and the need to promote sustainable forms of transport in Poland,” said Piotr Maleszak, deputy minister of the Ministry of Infrastructure.

National Integrated Ticket – what is it?

Malepszak added that it is planned to introduce a solution in which the deposit related to ticket settlement or discount systems are placed on a chip and then calculated via a reader.

“A single ticket will enable smooth travel on trains, buses and trams. The system will include various forms of tickets, including: single-use connection tickets purchased for a given route regardless of the carrier and departure time, with the option of selecting a return option, so-called subscription (section) tickets: monthly regardless of the carrier or tickets covering all regional railway carriers with the option of public transport. Ultimately, the system should cover all public transport on a voluntary basis,” he wrote.

As he said, at the current stage – preparation for implementation – the final form of this solution, and therefore the date and cost of its implementation, have not yet been determined.
