FLAGSTAFF, Ariz.- Uri Farkas has resigned from his position as teh Northern Arizona University (NAU) ⁤athletic director, the university announced ⁣on January ⁤27, 2026.farkas’ departure comes less than a year after his promotion ‍to the full-time role, following ⁢a period as interim ‍director.

A Focus on ⁤Well-being

In a statement released by NAU, Farkas cited a need to prioritize⁢ his personal and family well-being as the reason for his‍ resignation. “I will always be a strong advocate⁢ and supporter of Lumberjack Athletics and Northern Arizona University,” Farkas stated. “At this time, I need to step away and focus on my physical and mental health, as well as the overall⁢ well-being of my family. They have been my number one supporters, and I look forward to ⁣spending more time with them as I explore my next possibility.”

Farkas’ Tenure at NAU

Farkas initially assumed the role of interim athletic⁢ director in March 2025, stepping in ⁢after the retirement of Mike Marlow. He was subsequently appointed as the‍ Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics in ⁣June 2025. Prior to his leadership positions, Farkas served as the Deputy athletic‍ Director at NAU since 2018.
