War cabinet Israel considering what response could be made to the air attack Iran over the weekend at a meeting on Monday (15/4).

Israel has not revealed what steps it will take to respond to the attack by hundreds of Iranian missiles and drones.

However, a number of Israeli sources told The Washington Post that Tel Aviv was weighing what kind of countermeasures would not anger allies.

According to an official involved in the matter, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has asked the Israel Defense Forces to provide a list of possible targets for attacks in Iran.

He also claimed Israel was considering retaliation that could “send a message” to Iran, but not cause casualties.

“Everyone agrees that Israel must respond,” the official said.

“How to respond, when to respond, that is the question,” he added.

According to the official, one of Israel’s options is to launch an attack on Iranian military facilities in Tehran or a cyber attack.

Reported Al Jazeera, Israel’s military chief, General Herzi Halevi, told his troops that Iran’s attacks on the country “will be met with retribution”.

“As we look to the future, we are considering our steps. The launch of so many cruise missiles and drones into Israeli territory will be responded to favorably,” Halevi was quoted as saying by local media during a visit to a military base in Israel.

Meanwhile, Israel’s allies, the United States, several European countries and the United Nations (UN) have called on all relevant parties to exercise restraint in order to avoid a more severe escalation of tensions in the Middle East.

This is because Iran’s attack on Israel occurred when Tel Aviv was still carrying out its brutal aggression on the Palestinian Gaza Strip since October 2023.

Iran launched this attack in retaliation for Israel’s alleged attack on its embassy compound in Syria on April 1. The incident killed a high-ranking commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard (Iranian military).

The effects of the Iranian attack caused minor damage as most of the drones and missiles were shot down by Israel’s Iron Dome defense system with assistance from the United States, Britain, France and Jordan.

Iran’s air attack on Israel also prompted a number of countries in the Middle East to immediately close their air space.
