According to new rumors, EA is working hard on a new one Battlefield which will be released at the end of 2025. It also wants to follow Call of Duty and has a free Battlefield battle royale game in development.
The news comes from Tom Henderson, the game journalist from Insider Gaming who has a lot of reliable leaks and information to his credit. According to Henderson, EA has several Battlefield projects in the pipeline. One of them is a new game in the main series and is scheduled for release in October 2025.
For the new Battlefield, developer Ripple Effect (formerly DICE LA) wants to return to the roots of the series. Back to 64-player matches, a four-class system and a revamped destruction system. The game would take place in the near future (2025 – 2030) and emphasize modern war technology and weapons.
Surprising news: in addition to the ‘premium Battlefield game’, EA would also develop a free, standalone battle royale game such as Call of Duty Warzone.
The new free-to-play Battlefield would feature two game modes: the classic Battle Royale experience where 100 players are dropped into a large map and ‘Gauntlet’ where teams have to complete different objectives. The team with the lowest score is always kicked out.
EA released the battle royale modes Battle Royale Firestorm (Battlefield V) and Hazard Zone (Battlefield 2042) in the past, but made the mistake of never making them free-to-play. EA doesn’t want to make that mistake again.
