The Chippewa falls community celebrated a significant milestone on August 14th with the official groundbreaking of a new Aspirus Health hospital and clinic. This project represents a crucial step in restoring accessible healthcare to the region, following the challenging closures of two major hospitals in 2024.
For residents of Chippewa Falls and surrounding areas, the past year has underscored a critical need for local medical services. The loss of existing facilities created substantial gaps in emergency, inpatient, and routine care, forcing individuals to travel longer distances for essential treatment. aspirus Health responded to this urgent need with a commitment to long-term, sustainable healthcare solutions.
Addressing a Critical Healthcare Gap
“This project strengthens our commitment to meeting the evolving needs of Chippewa Falls and the surrounding area – with compassion, expertise and excellence,” stated Matt Heywood, President and CEO of Aspirus Health.”we listened to the community, and this project directly answers what you’ve told us: you want more local health care options, and you deserve the very best.”
The new 35,000-square-foot facility, located on a 22-acre site along Chippewa Crossing Boulevard, isn’t just about rebuilding capacity; it’s about building a stronger, healthier future for the community. Aspirus Health has a proven track record of successfully expanding services in rural Wisconsin, demonstrated by recent investments in Stanley and Medford. This experience informed the decision to establish a comprehensive facility in Chippewa Falls, designed to accommodate both current and future growth.
“We’re thrilled to expand and elevate local care while boosting the local economy,” added Jason Troxell, Aspirus Wisconsin Northwest Region president. “We welcome the chance to connect with our neighbors as we heal people, promote health, and strengthen communities.”
