The famous Elvis house in Breda has been sold. Home owner Jimmy Prins (67) previously lowered the price from 2.5 million euros to a starting price of 1.6 million euros and that had an effect. There were several interested parties, including from Asia and America. But in the end a Brabander runs away with the house.

I can’t help falling in love with you. That’s what a rich Brabander must have thought when he viewed the house in Breda. Because he was immediately sold. He had to and would have this house.

The house is a replica of Elvis’s American villa in Memphis. He used a tape measure to measure the dimensions of the Graceland villa in America so that he could recreate it exactly. You enter a huge hall with a large portrait of Elvis on the floor. Jimmy is a huge Elvis fan, whose life revolves around the singer.

“Interested people could actually bid on the house until March 7,” says millionaire real estate agent Leslie de Ruiter, who works for Christie’s, which is selling the house. “We had viewings from two Asians and someone from America, among others, who were all real Elvis fans and wanted to leave the house intact. However, they wanted to think about it for a while.”

“Effigy of Elvis on the floor is being removed.”

Then came the Brabander. “Not an Elvis fan, so for example the image of Elvis on the floor will be removed. But it was someone who made an excellent offer, provided he had a definitive answer within a week. Jimmy then opted for certainty. Better to have one bird in hand then ten in the air. It was a matter of waiting to see whether the others would bid and bid more.”

Jimmy can walk around the house for another three months, possibly dressed as Elvis. “It is a shame that the buyer is not an Elvis fan, but he does love history so will certainly put on an Elvis picture every now and then,” says De Ruiter.

He does not want to say how much the house has now sold for.
