When the Vision Pro appeared in the US on February 2, the first owners could immediately install an update. The day before its availability, Apple already released visionOS 1.0.2, one of the first bug fixes for the Vision Pro’s operating system. But today the very first update since the release of the Vision Pro has been released. VisionOS 1.0.3 also fixes bugs and Apple also adds a useful (and essential) feature.

A few days after the Vision Pro went on sale in the US, it turned out that forgetting your access code can have major consequences. If you were no longer able to unlock and use the Vision Pro because you had forgotten the passcode, you had no choice but to go to an Apple Store to have it reset there. This was already a lot of hassle for users in the US, but if you have imported one to the Netherlands, it becomes even more difficult. After all, the Dutch Apple Stores cannot yet offer support. Fortunately, Apple has now released visionOS 1.0.3, which resolves this problem.

In the release notes, Apple explains that an option has been added to reset the Vision Pro if you have forgotten the passcode. After entering an incorrect access code the number of times, the option will automatically appear. Please note that you must first update the Vision Pro to visionOS 1.0.3 to get this option.

This update provides important bug fixes and adds an option to reset your device if you’ve forgotten your passcode.

After resetting the Vision Pro, you can set an access code again. However, the Vision Pro remains linked to your Apple ID thanks to Activation Lock, so you’ll need your Apple ID password to reconfigure it.

To download visionOS 1.0.3, do the following:

Make sure that the Vision Pro remains connected to the battery and that it is sufficiently charged. If necessary, plug a USB-C cable into the wall socket to keep the battery charged.
