Now, thanks to a partnership between SBB and RDC Deutschland, that dream is becoming a reality. The service,launching April 15th,2026,will operate three times a week in both directions,offering a year-round connection.
Despite previous concerns about the profitability of night trains due to high operational costs, this route is moving forward. Significant financial support from the Swiss government – currently projected at approximately 50.6 million Euros by 2030 – is crucial for both the launch and continued operation of this EuroNight service.
What to Expect on Your Journey
The 1400-kilometer route is designed for comfort and convenience, featuring around 350 seats across sleeping cars, couchette cars, and seated options. You’ll enjoy a relaxing journey,arriving refreshed and ready to explore.

* Departure from Basel SBB: Every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday at 5:35 PM.
* Arrival in Malmö: 9:35 AM the following day.
* Departure from Malmö: every Thursday, Saturday, and Monday at 6:57 PM.
* Arrival in Basel SBB: 11:30 AM the following day.
