Nissan has officially launched the new generation of its flagship Elgrand minivan in Japan, introducing a lineup that features four distinct custom configurations developed by the Nissan Motorsport & Customizing (NMC) division. Sales for the new models began on July 16, 2026, following the vehicle’s initial debut at the 2025 Japan Mobility Show.
The new Elgrand is built on a larger platform than its predecessor, measuring 4,995 mm in length, 1,895 mm in width, and 1,975 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,000 mm. The vehicle is available exclusively with an electric all-wheel-drive system known as e-4ORCE, which utilizes a third-generation e-Power hybrid setup. This system pairs a ZR15DDTe gasoline turbo engine—used solely to generate electricity—with electric motors for propulsion.
Four Custom Configurations for Diverse Market Needs
To address varied consumer requirements ranging from family transport to executive use, Nissan has introduced four specific versions of the Elgrand:

- AUTECH: Positioned as the flagship with a focus on "premium sportiness." Its design features a front grille with a dot pattern reminiscent of shimmering sea water, LED signatures inspired by wake patterns, and 18-inch wheels. The interior utilizes Nappa leather with a quilted pattern and blue stitching.
- AUTECH LINE: A more understated version that emphasizes a sophisticated exterior with a dark metallic grey grille, specialized aluminum wheels, and metallic-finished mirror housings. It features an all-black interior.
- VIP: Designed for chauffeur-driven scenarios, this version prioritizes passenger comfort with Nappa leather seating, a 22-speaker Bose audio system, a 15.6-inch rear monitor, reading lamps, and an automated, illuminated step for easier entry.
- Step Type: Engineered for maximum accessibility, this model includes a long, retractable step that deploys when the front passenger or right sliding door is opened, facilitating a smoother transition between the road and the vehicle floor.
Advanced Technology and Interior Comfort
The cabin of the new Elgrand focuses on "Japanese futurism," highlighted by a 14.3-inch display that integrates the instrument cluster and multimedia system. Passengers benefit from an interior ambient lighting system offering 64 color shades.
Practicality for long-distance travel is a core design pillar. The seven-seat configuration includes second-row captain’s chairs with electric upper backrest adjustments and ottomans. According to Nissan, the vehicle can accommodate seven pieces of carry-on luggage even when all seven seats are occupied.
Technological integration includes:
- ProPILOT: A semi-autonomous driving suite, with the top-tier trim offering ProPILOT 2.0, which includes memory-based automatic parking and a hands-free driving mode for traffic congestion.
- Connectivity and Power: The vehicle features dual Qi2.0 wireless charging pads and three 100V power outlets providing a combined output of up to 1500W.
- Safety and Convenience: Standard equipment includes a 360-degree camera system, an active noise cancellation system, and a mobile application that alerts the owner if the vehicle moves without an authorized driver.
Performance and Market Positioning
The e-4ORCE system allows for real-time adjustment of suspension damping and torque distribution across both axles. Drivers can select from six distinct modes, including settings for economy, comfort, sport, and winter conditions. The vehicle’s range is reported to exceed 1,100 km.

Pricing for the base model starts at 6,897,000 yen. The custom versions from the NMC division range from 7,146,700 yen to 8,698,800 yen. While the majority of the lineup became available on July 16, the flagship AUTECH version is scheduled to reach dealerships in early August. Through this segmented approach, Nissan aims to compete directly in the premium minivan sector, targeting corporate clients, families, and high-end transport services.
