PIEŠŘANY / A 17-year-old boy died of a heart attack in a dormitory in Piešťany. When they found him, he was unconscious and not breathing. According to information from TV JOJ, he probably collapsed after taking ecstasy.

The employees and students of the Central Industrial School of Electrical Engineering in Piešťany had a sad morning. 17-year-old Janko died in one of the rooms of the local boarding school. According to information TV OH the complications occurred at around half past four. The boy’s friend should have called the rescuers. “On the basis of a call to the emergency line, the Operation Center of the Emergency Health Service of the Slovak Republic sent an ambulance to a young patient who had lost consciousness and was not breathing. The operator of the emergency line immediately started telephone-assisted emergency resuscitation until the crew arrived at the address,” informed Petra Klimešová, spokeswoman for OS ZZS SR.

Despite the efforts of the rescuers, they were unable to revive the student and the doctor had to declare him dead. According to information from TV JOJ, Janko’s health condition was complicated after taking the drug – ecstasy. The police are also working with information about intoxication. “The death of a 17-year-old student occurred due to causes that have not yet been determined, probably due to intoxication of the body. The authorized police officer ordered a forensic autopsy to be performed, which will determine the exact causes and circumstances of the young student’s death.” added Mária Linkešová, spokeswoman for KR PZ Trnava.

The police will also check where the student got the drugs. The school management also confirmed the sad news. According to the principal, this is the first such case at their high school. “We can confirm that a student died in our dormitory. Emergency services and the police were called. Unfortunately, they were unable to help the student. We express our sincere condolences to the family and relatives, and the matter is still under investigation.” said Jozef Kolník, director of SPŠE Piešťany.

According to the expert, it is very rare for a person – especially a young person – to die after taking ecstasy. There could be several reasons why Ján died – his health, but also the composition of the drug. “Are there any other impurities, and also the question is correctly asked, what is the state of health of the person. Because there is a significant increase in metabolism, heart action, blood pressure rises, so deaths have been recorded when there was a sudden heart failure or there was to bleeding in the brain,” explained Ľubomír Okruhlica, chief expert of the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic in the field of drug addiction medicine.

With most drugs, one does not know what one will get. The second factor is the state of health of his organism at that time.
