Optellum and Coreline Soft Partner to Integrate AI for Lung Nodule Detection and Care

Optellum and Coreline Soft announced a strategic plan to integrate artificial intelligence technologies to support lung nodule detection and management across international markets and multiple disease areas, according to corporate announcements released by both companies. Under the proposed partnership, Optellum intends to incorporate Coreline Soft’s FDA-cleared computer-aided detection software, AVIEW Lung Nodule CAD, directly into its end-to-end thoracic care platform, LungOS.

The collaboration aims to connect Coreline Soft’s image-based detection capabilities with Optellum’s computer-aided diagnosis (CADx), risk assessment, and care management workflows. By uniting these tools, the companies seek to provide radiologists, pulmonologists, and multidisciplinary care teams with a more streamlined pathway from initial nodule identification to patient prioritization and clinical follow-up.

Lung cancer remains a formidable global health challenge, with patient outcomes heavily dependent on early diagnosis and prompt medical intervention. According to clinical data cited by Optellum, five-year relative survival rates in the United States are approximately seven times higher when the disease is detected at a localized stage—roughly 64%—compared to approximately 9% after distant spread. At the same time, nearly 20 million chest CT scans are performed annually across the United States, leading to incidental lung nodule findings in more than 1.6 million individuals each year. Approximately 10% of nodules measuring greater than 8 millimeters are likely to be malignant, while many others remain indeterminate.

Connecting Detection and Risk Stratification in Thoracic Care

Coreline Soft’s AVIEW Lung Nodule CAD assists radiologists by automatically detecting lung nodules during the review of chest computed tomography examinations. Through the proposed integration, this image-based detection tool will interface with Optellum’s LungOS platform, which includes the Virtual Nodule Clinic, Patient Discovery AI, and reimbursed Lung Cancer Prediction AI.

Optellum CEO Dr. Johnathan Watkins stated that the company is building LungOS into a unified operating system for lung cancer and broader thoracic care. According to Dr. Watkins, the intended collaboration reflects a shared commitment to giving healthcare systems the tools necessary for earlier and more confident lung nodule assessments, ensuring that no patient is left behind.

Coreline Soft CEO Jin Kook Kim noted that his firm has long advanced AI technologies designed to support clinical teams in lung cancer care. According to Kim, connecting Coreline Soft’s expertise in chest CT-based detection and screening workflows with Optellum’s risk assessment tools will help contribute to a more connected, efficient, and scalable clinical care model.

Regulatory Clearances and Global Market Reach

Both companies maintain regulatory clearances for their respective technologies across key international jurisdictions. Coreline Soft’s AVIEW Lung Nodule CAD holds clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to assist medical professionals in evaluating chest CT scans. Meanwhile, Optellum’s Virtual Nodule Clinic is cleared for use with incidental lung nodules in the United States and Australia, as well as for both screening-detected and incidental nodules in the European Union, United Kingdom, and Switzerland.
