Retr”O”Lux, an exclusive party planned for May 9 in Harelbeke, on the water with well-known DJs, has been canceled after all. The organization itself announced this. The party boat is too high. “That smells like pure amateurism,” respond party-goers, who are worried about their money.

With renowned DJs such as Yves Deruyter (known from Globe and Bonzai), Phi Phi (known from Extreme and Boccaccio), Greg S (Tomorrowland and Bonzai), Retro Belgica (from Retro Belgica Records), Sven Lanvin (Zillion), Dimaro (Tomorrowland ), Michiel Cnudde (Retronation) and Deacon (Zuco). And especially with a lot of bling bling.
Weeks ago, organizer Didier Verduyn, alias Didi, warned that anyone who still wanted to attend had to buy tickets quickly because they were the last ones. Price: from 79 euros.
Everything would continue on May 9. Not on a festival field or in a hall, but on a party boat that would moor at Kortrijk. Could be, because there has been a serious hitch. Organizer Didier, Didi, Verduyn says on social media that he is forced to postpone the date. But the party will certainly continue, it sounds.
Too high
Many ticket holders are starting to seriously doubt this. And they fear losing their money. “The ship is too high” is the reason for rescheduling the event. It doesn’t reach Harelbeke. That smells like pure amateurism,” say party-goers who are forced to stay on the quay and, in the best case, will have to embark on a different date and in a different place.
Organization Bar”O”Lux has not yet responded to our calls, but says on social media that “the shipping company is now applying for the necessary permits.” After that, they will soon announce a new date and a new location.
According to a good source, Verduyn initially entered into partnership with another Dutch shipping company, but the collaboration failed. So he had to quickly look for another boat. He found it at another shipping company in Rotterdam. But “De Ameland” is too big and especially too high. He doesn’t get to Harelbeke. Ghent was an alternative, but there are construction works on the Rigakaai there and so the harbor master did not give permission to moor there.
Swingers party
An application has now been submitted for berths in the port of Antwerp. If that happens, the party will probably take place on June 14 in Antwerp. With the same DJs.
And Er”O”Lux, a large swingers party from the same organization, may also be forced to move to Antwerp. The event is now still scheduled for Ghent Zeehaven on the website of organizer Bar”O”Lux. But the party boat (which has been converted into a sex boat for the occasion) still cannot moor there because work will continue in the port of Ghent until the end of the summer.
