CHP Chairman Özgür Özel announced that he would go to Palestine.

However, Özel stated in his statement on his social media account yesterday that the visit could not be made.

Private, in his statement, “I had previously announced that we would go to Palestine for today. However, due to the latest developments in the region and the closure of the airspace to flights, unfortunately we cannot carry out our program today.

I will go to Palestine at the first possible opportunity. “We stand with the Palestinian people, a ceasefire should be achieved as soon as possible and the smooth transportation of humanitarian aid to the region should be ensured.” He included his statements.

He touched upon the issue again in the group meeting

Speaking at his party’s group meeting today after his statement yesterday, Özel said that they will support the Palestinian cause and carry out the visit.

Özel included the following statements in his statement:

“Tension cannot be prevented without a ceasefire in Gaza”

The Middle East has been going through difficult times since October 7. We follow the tension between Israel and Iran. I reiterate that in this process, the parties should stay away from steps that will increase tension. While our surroundings have turned into a ring of fire, our country must be the pioneer of every effort to reduce tension. It is not possible to prevent tension in Gaza without a ceasefire.

“I will go to Palestine as soon as possible”

I was supposed to be in Palestine yesterday, but the closure of the airspace after the attacks over the weekend caused us to postpone our visit. We will go to Palestine as soon as possible and ensure that the 33 thousand missing people are announced to the world. Our duty is to protect Bülent Ecevit’s relationship with Arafat and Deniz Gezmiş’s Palestinian cause.
