Manny Pacquiao Joins team Boxing League as Player,Owner,and ambassador
Boxing legend Manny Pacquiao will serve as captain and active fighter for the San diego TJ’s,a new expansion team in the Team Boxing League (TBL),the league announced on February 4,2026. The 47-year-old Filipino icon, the only eight-division world champion in boxing history, will initially join the TBL as an ambassador in 2026 before becoming an official team owner of the TJ’s in 2027, coinciding with his full participation as a fighter.

“I believe in the vision of the TBL and what this league is building for the future of boxing,” Pacquiao stated. “Team boxing brings a new level of excitement, strategy, and opportunities for fighters and fans. About the Team Boxing League
The TBL is the first team-based professional boxing league in the United States. Matches consist of 24 rounds of three-minute boxing, with each competitor participating in individual one-on-one bouts. The league features weight classes for both men and women:
- Men: 126,135,147,154,160,168,175,199,and 205 pounds
- Women: 118,126,and 140 pounds
Founded in 2022,the TBL held its inaugural season in 2023. The San Diego TJ’s will join existing teams such as LA Elite, NYC attitude, Philadelphia Smoke, Las Vegas Hustle, Miami Assassins, Houston Hitmen, Dallas Enforcers, and Phoenix Fury, and Boston Butchers. The league is quickly gaining recognition as a breeding ground for new boxing talent, building on the legacy of fighters from the Tijuana and San Diego area like Jaime Munguía and Margarito.
