On Friday, April 5, BK “Ventspils” beat “Tartu Ülikool” (103:83) in the third game of the Pafbet Latvian-Estonian Basketball League quarterfinal series. The winners of the first championship, after a five-year break, have reached the semi-finals, where they will compete with the Estonian champions “Kalev/Cramo” from Tallinn in a best-of-two series. “BC Prometey” – “VEF Riga” will compete in the second pair (games on April 10, 14 and, if necessary, on April 17).

In the first half, Ventspils were mostly in the lead, in the 18th minute they let their opponents ahead for a while (34:38), but immediately regained the lead and achieved the decisive breakthrough in the third quarter. The winners attacked very effectively from close and mid-range (2p. 28/36 – 18/41).

For BK “Ventspils” team Linards Jaunzems scored 35 points, Ismails Elamins 15, Francis 15, Ronalds Zaķis 12.

For the Tartu team, Kristjans Kitsings scored 15 points, Rinalds Mālmanis 14, Devins Harriss 13, Merts Rosenthal 12.
