Pakistan Balochistan Attacks: Separatist Violence Escalates

Recent attacks in Pakistan’s Balochistan province have resulted in a surge of violence, with a Baloch separatist group, the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), claiming responsibility. The attacks,dubbed “Operation Herof” or “black storm” by the BLA,have targeted security forces and reportedly resulted in civilian casualties. The provincial capital, Quetta, has borne the brunt of the violence, with evidence of clashes visible in the form of burnt-out vehicles, bullet-riddled buildings, and cordoned-off streets. The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed to have killed 84 members of the security forces and captured 18 others during the recent offensive.
