A legal battle is unfolding between data analytics firm Palantir and a newer competitor, Percepta AI, centering around allegations of intellectual property theft and talent poaching. executives at Percepta AI have refuted claims made by Palantir, characterizing the lawsuit as a strategic maneuver to hinder their growth and discourage employees from seeking opportunities elsewhere.
Lawyers representing Percepta AI asserted that Palantir’s actions are designed to scare others away from leaving and to destroy Percepta before it can grow further
, according to a recent court filing seeking dismissal of Palantir’s claims.
Moreover, the defense team contends that the non-compete agreements Palantir is attempting to enforce are overly broad and lack legal standing, arguing that Palantir’s interpretation aims to stifle competition
.
the initial lawsuit, filed by Palantir in October in the Southern District of New York, alleges that percepta AI,founded by former Palantir employees Hirsh Jain and Radha Jain, was built upon stolen proprietary information.Palantir also accuses the founders of actively attempting to recruit Palantir employees, effectively plundering Palantir’s valuable intellectual property
.
Palantir’s complaint extends to a third Percepta employee, Joanna Cohen, alleging she improperly accessed and removed confidential documents before her departure, even photographing sensitive data on her personal device.
Percepta AI vehemently denies these accusations, issuing a statement in December that the lawsuit is baseless
.
Attorneys for Percepta AI stated that thorough investigations revealed no evidence of Palantir materials in their possession. They also maintained that Cohen’s actions – taking screenshots of information – were undertaken in good faith to facilitate her work and that the information is now outdated and irrelevant.
Palantir has not yet issued a public response to the latest filings.
