Panjab University has issued a final notice to 46 affiliated colleges that have yet to complete mandatory document verification. This verification is crucial for the implementation of the University Grants Commission (UGC) 7th pay scale, as well as ensuring proper disbursement of retirement benefits, provident fund deductions, and other service-related benefits for college staff. The initial deadline of January 12th has passed, prompting the university to take further action.
Geographical Distribution of Defaulter Colleges
The 46 colleges are spread across several districts in Punjab. Specifically,11 colleges each are located in Moga and Ludhiana,nine in Hoshiarpur,and five in Muktsar Sahib. Four colleges each were identified in Fazilka and Ferozepur, with one college each in SBS Nagar and Chandigarh. This widespread non-compliance highlights a systemic issue requiring immediate attention.
University’s Communication and Revised Deadline
in an official communication, Panjab University addressed the principals and governing bodies of the non-government affiliated colleges, emphasizing the importance of immediate compliance. The university stated that repeated reminders had been sent, yet these institutions failed to submit the required documentation by the January 12th deadline. To provide a final opportunity, the university has rescheduled the verification process, setting a new deadline between January 22nd and January 30th, with specific dates assigned to each college. Officials have firmly stated that no further extensions will be granted.
