The holidays, while joyful, frequently enough bring a flurry of activity, particularly when welcoming guests and caring for young children. It’s not uncommon for ingredients to go missing amidst the cheerful chaos, as I discovered one thanksgiving morning when a five-pound bag of Yukon gold potatoes mysteriously disappeared.
With a house full of family – four of my five adult children and their little ones - the kitchen was a vibrant hub of activity, complete with high chairs, baby gear, and a generous supply of beverages. Eventually, the missing potatoes were located hours later, tucked away in the cutting board basket. It was a comical morning, with a forgotten turkey and a chicken cooked upside down adding to the festive mishaps.
