South Korean-born DJ and producer Peggy Gou has released her latest single, “Wo,man,” featuring Nigerian afrobeats artist Ayra Starr. The track, which arrived on June 26 via XL Recordings, marks the artist’s latest release following the 2024 release of her debut album, I Hear You.
The collaboration pairs Gou’s restlessly energetic production with vocals from Starr, centering on a recurring hook of “Adigidang dang dang di dang.” The release, accompanied by an official music video directed by Onda, serves as a focal point for Gou’s summer promotional efforts, which include a series of live performances and a one-day pop-up event in London.
A Natural Creative Partnership
The union of Gou and Starr follows a prior creative link-up between the two artists. Earlier in 2024, Gou remixed Starr’s single, “Where Do We Go,” which established the working relationship that led to this new record. According to a statement provided by the artists, the collaboration was intended to capture a specific aesthetic associated with the summer season.

“When I was working on ‘Wo,man’, I knew I wanted a voice that could match the song’s uplifting energy for summer,” Gou said in a statement. She noted that Starr understood the creative direction immediately. Starr echoed this sentiment, describing the studio process as a “summer vibe” and emphasizing the mutual respect between the two musicians.

Community Engagement and London Pop-Up
To celebrate the launch of “Wo,man,” Gou organized a limited-time pop-up boutique in London titled “The Gou,tique.” The event took place at Dream Bags Jaguar Shoes on Kingsland Road in east London. The boutique operated for one day and night only, between 4pm and 9pm, offering free entry on a first-come, first-served basis to fans.

The activation featured a curated selection of 200 mystery items from Gou’s personal collection alongside 100 archival items from Peggy Gou merchandise lines. The event was soundtracked by DJs from her Gudu Records roster. This pop-up reflects a growing trend among electronic artists to create physical, experiential spaces for fans to engage with their brand identity outside of traditional festival or club environments.
Tour Schedule and Industry Context
Peggy Gou is currently in the midst of a busy summer of live appearances. Among the most notable upcoming dates is a headline performance at the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich, London, scheduled for August 2. Her production work remains a significant part of her 2024 output; earlier this year, she released a remix of Madonna’s “I Feel So Free,” which featured a 90s dance-flavoured touch, built around clattering drums and squelchy synths.
Ayra Starr is also maintaining a high profile in the festival circuit. She is slated to perform at the 2026 edition of All Points East, appearing on a bill alongside Jorja Smith and Tems. The lineup for that event also includes artists such as Nia Archives, Elmiene, and Kwn, highlighting the continued crossover between Afrobeats and the broader global electronic and alternative music scenes.
As of late June 2024, no further collaborative projects between Gou and Starr have been formally announced.
