Oil, copper, gold and bananas are the main export products of the countries that make up the Andean Communitywhile China y USA They are considered the main destination markets of the South American bloc.

In 2023, the main destination for exports from the Andean Community was China, representing 19.7% of total external sales, followed by the United States with 19.5%; European Union con 11,9%; Panama with 6.3% and, in fifth place, the Member countries from CAN with a participation of 6.1% of the total.

According to the statistical report “Foreign trade in goods 2023”prepared by the General Secretariat of the Andean CommunityAmong the top ten products exported to the world, crude petroleum oils, copper minerals, raw forms of gold for non-monetary use, bituminous coal, fresh “cavendish valery” type bananas, among others, stand out.

Imports

With respect to imports from the Andean Community, the main market of origin is the United States with 22.7% share, followed by China with 22.4%; European Union with 13.1%; Brazil with 6.9% and, in fifth place, the CAN Member Countries with a participation of 6.4% of the total.

In this case, the main products imported from outside the EU are diesel, light petroleum or bituminous mineral oils, gasoline without tetraethyl lead for aviation engines, airplanes and other aircraft, crude petroleum or bituminous mineral oils, mobile phones, corn hard yellow, among others.
