Peugeot Announces 7 New Models by 2030 to Boost Global Sales and Lead EV Innovation

Peugeot has announced a significant expansion of its vehicle lineup, confirming plans to introduce seven new models by 2030.

Strategic Growth and the STLA One Platform

The core of Peugeot’s upcoming product offensive is the deployment of the STLA One architecture. This new technical foundation is designed to accommodate both fully electric vehicles and electrified internal combustion engines. According to e15.cz, the next generation of the Peugeot 208, expected to premiere in the second half of next year, will be the first model across the entire Stellantis group to utilize this platform. The integration of the STLA One architecture is intended to replace five existing technical bases, aiming to reduce development and production costs while enhancing the brand’s competitive position against rising international rivals.

As part of the broader Stellantis strategy, Peugeot has been designated as one of four primary global brands, alongside Jeep, RAM, and Fiat. These four brands are set to receive 70 percent of the conglomerate’s future development investments. Peugeot is specifically tasked with leading the engineering of small and mid-sized vehicles, as well as standard family SUVs, ensuring that new technologies are tested and implemented within its portfolio before being adopted by other European brands in the group.

Technological Innovation and Design Evolution

Future iterations of Peugeot vehicles are expected to feature significant interior and interface updates. The brand is currently developing the “Hypersquare” system, a technology previously showcased in the Inception concept. This system replaces the traditional steering wheel with a rectangular, digital controller that utilizes steer-by-wire technology, eliminating the mechanical connection between the steering input and the wheels. While details regarding the specific rollout of this technology remain unconfirmed, it represents the brand’s shift toward more digitized driver controls.

Design inspiration for the upcoming models will draw heavily from the company’s history, with a focus on modernizing classic elements. Alain Favey, the head of the company, stated that the brand’s heritage provides essential ideas for future development, which will be further highlighted at the upcoming Paris Motor Show. Two new concept vehicles will be unveiled at the event this October to provide a clearer vision of the brand’s future design direction, as noted by e15.cz.

Production and Global Market Focus

The manufacturing strategy includes significant updates to existing facilities. Stellantis has committed to a 400-million-euro investment to modernize the Mulhouse plant in France, which is scheduled to begin producing three new electrified C-segment models, likely SUVs, starting in 2029. This move aligns with the brand’s goal to refresh its lineup following the 2021 launch of the current 308 model, with a successor potentially arriving by 2028.

In addition to its European operations, Peugeot is collaborating with Dongfeng to develop specific models for the Chinese market. These include an electric station wagon and an SUV designed to address declining sales figures in the region. Under this partnership, Dongfeng will oversee development and production, while Peugeot contributes the design. These models are intended for the Chinese domestic market rather than for export to Europe, according to reporting from e15.cz.

The next major public update regarding these developments is expected at the Paris Motor Show in October, where the company will display the new concepts that define its long-term product roadmap.
