This analysis incorporates demographic variables and categorizations from external sources to provide richer insights. Let’s explore how these are defined and used.
Political Ideology
We analyzed responses based on self-identified political leanings. Respondents were asked to position themselves on an ideological spectrum, categorizing individuals as left-leaning, centrist, or right-leaning.
Specifically, in argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Nigeria, South Africa, and Turkey, participants were asked to place themselves on a scale ranging from “Extreme left” to “Extreme right.”
It’s critically important to note that ideological placement wasn’t assessed in India,Indonesia,or Kenya for this survey.
Educational attainment
to facilitate comparisons across countries, we’ve standardized education levels. This standardization is based on the United Nations’ International Standard Classification of Education (ISCED). You can learn more about ISCED here:[linktoISCED-[linktoISCED-[linktoISCED-[linktoISCED-replace with actual link].
defining Middle-Income Countries
Countries are classified as middle-income based on criteria established by the World Bank. These classifications rely on per capita gross national income. This approach aligns with our previous analyses, including studies on global perceptions of China, satisfaction with democracy, globalization, and national identity.
