Phasmophobia Roadmap: New Events, Maps, and 1.0 Update Details

Phasmophobia developer Kinetic Games has outlined its plans for 2026, revealing a roadmap that includes four seasonal events, updates to two existing maps, a brand new location, and meaningful core game improvements. These updates encompass a player character overhaul, a transition to Unity 6, a planned release on the nintendo Switch 2, and the long-awaited 1.0 release of the game.

Player Character Overhaul and Core Updates

The player character overhaul, eagerly anticipated by the community, is slated for release as early as March. This update will introduce free cosmetics, updated character models, and more refined animations, enhancing immersion for ghost hunters. As kinetic Games prepares for the 1.0 launch,they promise “lots of surprises” with the inclusion of what was previously known as horror 2.0.

Map Reworks and New Locations

Following the rework of the Farmhouse map, kinetic is focusing on residential maps, with Tanglewood and willow Street next in line for updates. While Tanglewood’s layout will remain largely consistent, it will receive “new interactions, a few small layout changes, and more.” Willow Street will undergo more substantial changes.The developers have also teased a completely new map, with details remaining under wraps.

Players can also expect a mysterious event at 6 Tanglewood Drive that will require investigation.

Looking Ahead to 1.0 and Beyond

Kinetic Games CEO and Game Director, Daniel Knight, emphasized the importance of 2026 for Phasmophobia, calling it “one of the biggest [years] in the game’s history.” He stated the team is committed to creating a truly immersive experience for all players, building upon updates like Chronicle and the upcoming Player Character overhaul. The goal is for the 1.0 launch to feel as significant and exciting as the game’s initial release in 2020.

Beyond the core updates, Kinetic is also planning a unique one-time event later in the year, alongside the return of familiar seasonal events. the growth team is transitioning the game to Unity 6 to improve performance and enhance visual fidelity. Phasmophobia is set to launch simultaneously on all platforms with the 1.0 release.
