A desperate search is underway in the Philippines after a massive landslide of waste engulfed a landfill, claiming the lives of at least four workers and leaving over 30 missing as of Saturday. Rescue teams have already pulled twelve injured workers from the debris field located in the village of Binaliw, Cebu City. These first responders, including police, firefighters, and specialized disaster teams, are working tirelessly against the clock, navigating treacherous conditions filled with unstable wreckage, twisted metal, and highly flammable garbage.
The Urgent Search for Survivors
Authorities have confirmed detecting signs of life within the rubble, intensifying the need for careful excavation. A 50-ton crane is being rushed to the site with a police escort to aid in the removal of heavier debris.
