It looks like an episode from a comedy series. Police were called at a hotel in Enderby, near Leicester in England, this weekend. Reason: a person at the elevator is said to have “a large knife” with him. After this call, several officers immediately stormed into the hotel with firearms, ready to engage in a life-threatening confrontation.

However, that confrontation never came to be, because the “knife” was… a wand carried by a Harry Potter fan. In a Facebook post from the local police, an officer said the following: “I visited a hotel in Enderby this morning with a number of officers with firearms because we had received a report of a man standing inside near the lifts with ‘a large knife ‘. But upon investigation we quickly determined it was a Harry Potter fan with a wand. Fortunately, no damage was done and there was no sign of Voldemort.”

A little further away, in a local garden center near Enderby, a Harry Potter themed event took place. It is not clear whether the fan was at the hotel to attend that event.
