Last year,researchers at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) demonstrated a remarkable 95% efficiency,delivering 270 kW to a Porsche Taycan,adding 50% charge in just 10 minutes. This record-breaking feat utilized polyphase windings and was part of a U.S. Department of Energy project backed by Volkswagen, Porsche’s parent company.

The convenience of wireless charging comes at a price. European Cayenne buyers can expect to pay around €7,000 (approximately US $8,100) for the optional system.Pricing for the U.S. market has yet to be announced.
Industry analyst Loren McDonald, CEO of Chargeonomics, believes wireless charging represents the future, particularly for applications like:

However, he cautions that the current high cost and limited production volume will initially restrict adoption to luxury models and affluent consumers.
