PPDS has introduced the Philips Cast Server. The solution enables seamless broadcasts and app streaming in hotel rooms. This would allow guests to stream their favorite content directly to hotel TVs without having to switch networks.

PPDS, the Philips licensee for professional display solutions, has introduced the Philips Cast Server. The product enables seamless and secure transmission of content to hotel TVs without guests having to connect their mobile devices to another network, according to the manufacturer. The product was shown for the first time at ISE 2024.

The Cast Server is designed as an all-in-one solution that can be integrated into a hotel’s existing IP network. Guests can stream content from their favorite streaming services such as Apple TV+, DAZN, Disney+, Prime and YouTube directly to the hotel TV. Guests can pair their mobile devices with the TVs by scanning a QR code displayed on them.

The Philips Cast Server is also a GDPR-compliant system that provides insights into guests’ usage habits. The solution enables detailed analysis of the popularity of various streaming services and helps hoteliers make informed decisions and optimize the entertainment offering for their guests. The manufacturer promises that all of the guests’ personal data is completely anonymized.

License plans tailored to hotel sizes

By integrating with PPDS’ CMND platform, hoteliers can customize the TV UI to create a consistent brand experience. In addition, the solution makes it easy to manage TVs without having to enter the rooms. This could be a significant advantage, especially in times of staff shortages.

The Philips Cast Server is available worldwide and offers different licensing plans tailored to the size of the hotel. These plans range from Small for up to 80 rooms to Double Extra Large for up to 500 rooms. There are even more expansion options on a project basis.

“The TV in the hotel room is playing an increasingly important role in providing guests with a positive experience and receiving good reviews,” says Jeroen Verhaeghe, Global Business Development Director Hospitality at PPDS. “Every hotel is set up differently. With the ability to integrate networks, more hotels can offer their guests the benefits of our hospitality TVs.”

The Philips Cast Server is not the only product that PPDS presented at ISE 2024. The manufacturer also presented easy-to-install LED screens and 0-watt displays at the digital signage and pro-AV trade fair in Barcelona. Read more about PPDS’ appearance at ISE 2024 here.
