Charles Spencer, the brother of Diana, Princess of Wales, who died in 1997, has come up with a terrible family secret, reports “The New York Post”.
The 59-year-old Spencer revealed in his latest book, A Very Private School: A Memoir, that he was sexually abused as a child and saw a therapist to deal with the trauma.
“I went to a specialist who told me to tell one secret that I haven’t told anyone,” Spencer said. “I answered that I experienced sexual abuse from an adult as a child. The therapist was shocked and after I told him about this experience, he recognized that it was a very serious problem.”
Spencer has seven children and spoke of his fear that something like this could happen to one of his offspring. “What would happen if one of the kids had to go through something like that? The thought makes my blood boil.”
At the age of eight, Spencer’s parents sent her to Maidwell Hall School. It was attended by children from upper-class families, whose parents believed that they would “meet the right people” there and gain valuable lessons.
But Spencer remembers it as a bad nightmare. “It was a brutal experience. The head teacher was a sadistic pedophile, from whom both the teachers and the children suffered. I think my parents had no idea what horrors were going on there. Otherwise, they would never have sent me there.
He also recalled that the treatment of children in this institution was violent. A classmate of his was allegedly beaten so badly that he could not sleep at night because of the blood. Also, the boys are said to have disappeared from time to time because they were “privately punished”. “These were perverted adults using their power against little boys. And we had no way of communicating with the outside world.”
Although each child had the opportunity to send a letter to their parents once a week, their contents were checked, so there was no way to tell what horrors happened in this institution.
