President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) was recently predicted to be a special advisor to Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka when they served as president and vice president. This was conveyed by former PDIP politician Maruarar Sirait.

“Pak Jokowi will certainly provide input and be an advisor as an experienced person,” said Maruarar at a group breaking the fast and providing compensation to 100 orphans in Jakarta, Sunday (7/4).

Maruarar likened Jokowi and Prabowo’s relationship to being built on a rock that was solid when exposed to water, wind or rain.

He said the trust, compatibility and comfort between the two figures had gone through a very dynamic and unique process.

The Minister of Investment Bahlil Lahadalia also conveyed the same thing.

“Yes, all of these possibilities can happen. Yes, they are all possible as long as they are within the constitutional framework,” Bahlil told reporters after meeting Jokowi at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, Monday (8/4).

However, Bahlil said that Jokowi would not interfere too much with Prabowo’s government. Especially regarding the determination of ministers in the next government.

Bahlil said Jokowi had experience as president. In this way, Jokowi will not violate existing boundaries.

“Mr President Jokowi has been president twice, you know which are the prerogatives of the elected president and which are not,” he said.

Jokowi said he wanted to retire

This statement from Maruarar and Bahlil contradicts Jokowi’s previous statement. Jokowi once admitted that he wanted to return to Solo, Central Java to spend his retirement after his term of office expires in 2024.

He said this in response to the push to become PDIP general chair to replace Megawati Soekarnoputri.

“I want to retire and return to Solo,” said Jokowi at Monas, Jakarta, Thursday (5/10/2023).
