The magazine Insider Gaming has already reported several times in the past weeks about the improved version of the PlayStation 5 console, which, according to its information, is already expected at the end of this year. In mid-March, he also brought alleged hardware specifications, according to which the console could bring up to three times the performance, if we only count teraflops, which could make gamers feel that the standard of 60 fps gaming in 4K resolution is finally approaching. And indeed, after a few days, the aforementioned magazine is calling again, this time with the performance requirements of individual games, so that they can take advantage of the future official designation “PS5 Pro Enhanced”, i.e. improved for the PlayStation 5 Pro.

Insider Tom Henderson on his introduction article explains that currently the described stamp is presented as “Trinity Enhanced”, which is supposed to refer to the PS5 Pro codename, but this is not relevant at this time. Those requirements that sound very straightforward are important. The game will need to handle 4K resolution, at least using the internal PSSR upscaler, it must also run at a constant 60 fps at that resolution, and add or improve existing ray tracing effects. If the performance of the PS5 Pro in the case of a specific game will be enough for all this, it will be possible to continue to promote it as the one that benefits the most from the possibilities of the new console, which is undoubtedly counted as one of the tools of the future marketing campaign for the games and the console itself.

According to Tom Henderson, such a performance increase in games could be possible thanks to faster RAM and a better GPU, which is supposed to have more computing resources at its disposal and is also supposed to be faster than the GPU in the base version of the console. Then, however, Henderson adds even more possible criteria for subsequent PS5 Pro Enhanced designations for games that came out earlier. They are, for example, an increased target resolution compared to how it runs on the current version of the console, an increase in framerate or a new inclusion of ray tracing effects. However, it must be understood that granting this stamp will be in Sony’s interest as well as in the developers’ interest, and thus it is very likely that both parties will try to make as many such games available as possible.
