André Hazes (30) would no longer be allowed to use his own name as a stage name if his mother Rachel Hazes (54) ‘wanted harm’. This is because Rachel manages the Hazes brand name. The 30-year-old singer said this in the Belgian talk show ‘De Tafel van Gert’, by Gert Verhulst (56).

“I can’t look in the wallet, but I don’t think you have to feel sorry for her.”

“In fact, if my mother wanted to do harm, I would have to change my stage name. Even though it is my name. That’s how strict it is,” says André. According to the singer, his mother earns a considerable amount with the brand name Hazes. “I can’t look in the wallet, but I don’t think you have to feel sorry for her, no.”

André also briefly touched on the inheritance case between his sister Roxeanne Hazes and his mother. “In the Netherlands that is a nice thing. It is a legal battle between my mother and my sister at the moment.”

In September last year it was revealed that Roxeanne was going to start legal proceedings against her mother. This is because of income that she would have wrongly received as an heir of her deceased partner André Hazes Sr. According to the will of the folk singer, who died in 2004, Rachel is not an heir and should therefore not receive any income from him. The judge has allowed her to continue to call herself heir for the time being, because Roxeanne had filed summary proceedings on the case too late. The case must be dealt with in substantive proceedings, the judge ruled.
