Radxa announces the Rock 5C single-board computer series. The entry-level model is the Rock 5C Lite with a Rockchip RK3582 soc. This new chip has six CPU cores and no 3D GPU. The cheapest variant costs just under 30 dollars. No euro prices have been announced yet.

The regular Radxa Rock 5C

The new Rockchip RK3582 SoC is ‘pin-to-pin compatible’ with the Rockchip RK3588S and provides the computing power on the Rock 5C Lite, so said Radxa. The SoC has a CPU with two Cortex-A76 and four Cortex-A55 cores. It is not clear what the clock speed of the processor cores is. The SoC does not have a 3D GPU, but it does have a 2D image processor. Radxa says that the Rock 5C Lite focuses on the essential functions at a lower price. The SBC supports video decoding in up to 8k resolution with a frame rate of 60fps. There are two HDMI 2.1 and a DisplayPort output.

The regular Rock 5C is powered by the Rockchip RK3588S2 SoC, which has a CPU with a total of eight cores, namely four Cortex-A55 and four Cortex-A76 cores. It is not clear whether this chip has a graphics processor with 3D functionality. The cheapest Rock 5C with 2GB of memory costs just under 50 dollars.
